About Meg Hardiman
Hello- my name is Meg and some members will already recognise me as I initially joined the Elders Council as the Research and Impact Intern, supporting the newly formed Research and Impact Group (RIG). Following the wonderful experience that the internship provided me with, I am excited to be staying a little bit longer at the Elders Council in my new part-time role as Projects Coordinator. I will be coordinating the ‘Ageing with Purpose’ course, designed to provide participants with core leadership skills through a mix of workshops and practical sessions, as well as continuing to assist with the RIG. I am looking forward to engaging with new and familiar faces as I take on my new role with the Elders Council.
I have recently graduated with a First Class Honours in English Literature with Creative Writing, and I have stayed at Newcastle University as a part-time research masters student, where I am exploring the figure of the seventeenth-century witch and how the witch has been transformed into a symbol for second wave feminists of the 1970s.
Unsurprisingly, in my spare time I love to read! I have three bookshelves at home and I am the proud owner of over two hundred books. If I’m not reading I am singing, and have performed in a community pantomime with the People’s Theatre last year. I also do lots of social justice outreach work with local primary schools, with a focus on celebrating place and identity.
I can’t wait to start my next adventure with the Elders Council where I hope to continue to support the organisation and all the brilliant work that they do!
